Farndon: The History of a Cheshire Village, Frank A. Latham (Ed.)Later buildings of some merit include the Lock Up dated 1837. This is completely Georgian in appearance with its Flemish Bond brickwork and Tonne slate roof. Its appearance is only marred by the clay hip tiles. Presumably it was once used as a prison of some kind or as a pound for stray animals. [NB. The pencil sketch shown above appears on page 82] Frank A. Latham (Ed.), Farndon: The History of a Cheshire Village, (1981), p.105.
Other detailsA small stone built room with a heavy grill on the window...It was free standing before the conversion into a B&B some time in the last 20 years. Notes from resident and owner of the property
