Royden births 1802-1881
The occurance of the Royden name is clearly shown on the map right.
The majority of these families are descended from Alexander Royden of Chester c.1660, including the Lanark families. There may well be small lines of unrelated descent elsewhere, especially in the London area for example, but the map tells its own story.
Pre 1600 Origins
The following families have originated separately without links;
Roydon of Raydon, Ramsey and East Peckham
Roydon of Battersea and Pyrford
Roydon of Bromfield, Co. Denbigh
Roydon/Royden of Chester
It appears from extensive research that the first two lines have died out, but the last two (Denbigh / Chester) may have been related. Most Roydens today as descended from the Chester family as the 1881 reflects. Most of the Roydens on this map have been located and linked in to the one name study as descendants of Alexander Royden c.1660 of Chester.
