Part of the work of EFC Heritage Society is to conduct grave rededications and restorations for notable former players and club officials, such as Alex ‘Sandy’ Young, Will Cuff, George Harrison, Jeremiah Kelly and Alec Brady. Another is Andrew Hannah, captain of our first League Championship-winning team
of 1891, his new headstone pictured here with Everton's Ian Snodin and researcher Tony Onslow of EFC Heritage Society. Articles are posted on the Society website about each rededication. (See the website link for Rob Sawyer's article below).

Charles Parry - Everton and Wales - Grave ceremony
|
The life of former Everton Football League title winner and Wales international Charlie Parry was commemorated at an event organised by EFC Heritage Society, in partnership with Oswestry Town Council.
The event took place on Friday, 1 March, at Oswestry Town Cemetery, and saw the unveiling of a headstone at the unmarked grave of the footballer, who died from tuberculosis in 1922, aged only 52.
After much dedicated research and hard work, most notably by Rob Sawyer of EFC Heritage Society, support for the project came from
Everton FC, the Football Association of Wales, the National Football Collection and the Parry family. |
|
Charlie Parry had two spells with Everton and aside from winning 13 Wales caps, captaining the side on four occasions, he went on to win the Welsh Cup with Aberystwyth Town in 1900 (and it was good to meet several club members at the reception who had produced a handsome history of their team).
During his playing career he also represented Chester St Oswald’s, Liverpool Caledonian, Newtown FC and Oswestry Town.
